Herb Stonebrook
Retired Energy Management Administrator
State of Tennessee
Mississippi Power "Quick Start" Program

Herb Stonebrook was born in Memphis, Tennessee and attended UT Martin before completing his Engineering Degree at UT Knoxville in Engineering Physics. He took a summer job after college that led him to sail for almost five years across the Pacific and back. He is currently a student at USM and is still learning how to record his adventure in the form of three novels. After returning to the US he was married to a local girl from a West Tennessee farm near Covington. Together they have raised three children. His daughter is married to a local Methodist pastor and the two grand kids lured the couple to Hattiesburg after retiring in May, 2012. They have been renovating an eighteen year old house in Cumberland with energy improvements a special priority.

Herb worked for TVA in the 1980s and for the Governor of Guam before moving back to Nashville. He served as Energy Management Administrator for nineteen years leading the state in many new directions with both existing buildings and new designs. His career in energy management has taken many twists and turns but he is still active in promoting the benefits of using less energy. His passion for engaging students to meter and report on results from pilot-demonstration projects has prompted him to begin planning with Pearl River Community College and USM. Recent approval by the Mississippi Public Service Commission opens the door to enlightened ways to work with customers of all classes for electricity providers. Herb joins us today with an update on what he has learned about Mississippi Power's 'Quick Start' Program.
